PROJECT 3

Designing with Architectural Principles, Materiality, Context and User

In this project, we are required to further explore and integrate the design idea and construction method of the previous assignment into a more complex program. We are also required to define a proposition for a small freestanding structure in relation to the natural landscape. Emphasis is given to the interpretation and synthesis of the user, site and function in architectural design. The design of this structure must demonstrate your application of architectural objectives and principles, materiality, constructability and the context in creating a memorable spatial experience for the user.

REFLECTION

In this project, in order to design a small structure that satisfies user needs, respects site context, and hit a balance between internal (architectural spaces/layout/circulation) and external (aesthetics and forms) design values, I have learned how to interpret and analyse simple site context, users' characters, and needs. I also met the TGC for thinking and problem-solving abilities by using my creativity to find solutions to issues that developed during the design process.
